Burna Boy Wins 2020 BET Award for Best International Act

Nigerian music star, Burna Boy, has won the 2020 BET Award for Best International Act.

The 2020 BET Awards was held virtually at L.A. Live, Los Angeles, U.S. in the early hours of Monday.

American comedian, Amanda Seales, hosted the awards.

It was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and was simulcasted via CBS.

Burna Boy, who was nominated alongside Rema in the same category, beat the likes of Innoss'B (DR Congo), Sho Madjozi (South Africa), Stormzy (United Kingdom), Dave (United Kingdom), Ninho (France) and S.Pri Noir (France) to claim the highly coveted award.

Accepting his award, the African Giant spoke on African development, saying,"Second time and I appreciate it. I will like to use this opportunity to say that sometime around 1835, there was admission to turn the nation of Africa into a dominated nation. Now is the time to return and go back to the royalty that we were because in order for black lives to matter, Africa must matter."

This win is the Port Harcourt-born singer's second consecutive BET: Best International Act win. Last year he was nominated alongside Mr Eazi, AKA, Dave, Giggs, Dosseh and Aya Nakaruma.

The ceremony paid tributes to Kobe Bryant, Little Richard and featured performances by Alicia Keys, Chloe x Halle and Megan Thee Stallion among others.

Beyoncé was also honoured with the Humanitarian Award for her decades-long commitment to philanthropy.

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun (born 16 July 1990), Generally Known as Wizkid is a Nigerian singer and songwriter.

He began recording music at the age of 11 and managed to release a collaborative album with the Glorious Five, a group he and a couple of his church friends formed.

Wizkid signed a record deal with Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E) in 2009.

He rose to prominence after releasing “Holla at Your Boy“, the lead single from his debut studio album Superstar (2011).

In 2016, Wizkid achieved international recognition following his collaboration with Drake on the global hit, “One Dance”, which reached number one in 15 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.

He’s one of the biggest artists that has ever come out of Africa.

Diamond Finds Tanasha's Replacement

Bongo superstar Diamond Platnumz has confirmed that he is no longer single.

The musician says he is already seeing someone, just five months after breaking up with the mother of his fifth child, Kenyan singer Tanasha Donna.

Diamond made the revelations three days ago in an interactive social gathering.

The Tanzanian heartthrob repeated his favourite clichés whenever he is in a relationship, by saying he is planning to marry and settle down with his new girlfriend.

The 30-year-old also said that he is tired of dating and he feels the time is right for him to settle down.

Before meeting Tanasha, Diamond had been in a four-year relationship with Ugandan socialite and the mother of his two children Zari Hassan.

During their relationship, Zari had even pardoned Diamond for cheating on her with Hamisa Mobetto and siring a child.

Another lady whom Diamond promised to marry is Bongo actress Wema Sepetu. The two dated on and off for more than five years.

Jokate Mwengelo, Penny Mungilwa, Jacqueline Wolper and Aunt Ezekiel are some of the women Diamond has been involved with in the past.

Atiku Abubakar

Abubakar worked in the Nigeria Customs Service for twenty years after which he took up business and politics.

 

He served as the Vice President of Nigeria for 8years from 1999 to 2007 during the.                     Presidency of Olusegu Obasanjo.                    Since the return to democracy, Abubakar has contested in all the elections after leaving office in 2007.

Atiku was characterized by the role of Chairman of the National Economic Council and head of the National Council on Privatization, overseeing the sale of hundreds of loss-making and poorly managed public enterprises alongside Nasir El Rufai.

In 2006, Abubakar was involved in a bitter public battle with his boss, President Olusegun Obasanjo, ostensibly arising from the latter’s bid to amend certain provisions of the constitution to take another shot at the presidency (Third Term Agenda).

This fall out with his boss made him leave Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in preparation for the 2007 elections.

Professor Yemi Osinbajo

On the other hand, Professor Yemi Osinbajo stated his career as a law lecturer at the University of Lagos.

And later went to politics in 2007 when he was appointed as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.

In 2015, Pastor Yemi Osinbajo was sworn into the office of Vice President and he was expected to oversee the economic planning team and report, as well as make recommendations.

Osinbajo who tagged the most trustworthy Vice President by the Emir of Daura while Acting as the President made some economic decision which made the Naira note valuable.

Recently, he was appointed in the economic sustainability committee.

With the aim of developing measures to cushion the effect of the coronavirus and eventually reposition the Nigerian economy.
